I expected Heart Talk to be a compendium of self-care ideas, thoughtful advice, and motivational mantras. It lacked any originality or even a fresh spin on old advice. It was essentially just the same template "inspirational quotes" rewritten in an even worse, bleached out form. The poetry, too, was vapid verse that had been decorated with overblown praise by media publicists as "heart talk in poetic words.

It did nothing for the well-read, eighteen-year-old me who belongs to the book-reviewing cadre. All in all, this review shouldn't be taken as tacit hatred towards all self-help or poetry books.

I do love a good memoir and it was because of this reason that the peachy endorsement for this book worked for me. Needless to say, I was highly disappointed by this book.
